The Code of Conduct Project

Synthetic Biology is an exciting and rapidly developing field built on top of powerful new tools of molecular biology. This potential must be handled responsibly, so as to avoid the risk of accidental or intentional misuse. Therefore, IASB has started the Code of Conduct Project, which aims at the development of a common code for providers of Synthetic Biology products and services.

In a community-focused process, we have initiated a dialog between scientists, stakeholders, policy makers, social scientists and government bodies in order to create a Code of Conduct which provides guidelines for the safe, secure and ethical conduct of business in the context of Synthetic Biology.

If you are interested in learning more about the Code of Conduct Project, or if you want to participate in the development of the code, please send us a message via the contact form on this website.
